Poker Hand Rankings — What are the best Hands in Poker

The game of poker has millions of loyal players around the world, as it is one of the most popular table games. Whether you play live at an online casino like Amok, 888casino, Raptor or in a card room, one of the main factors you need to be familiar with are poker hand rankings. There are 10 different hands, each one corresponding to a combination of five cards, and the player with the best hand at the showdown wins.

The good thing is that the same hand rankings apply to every game of Poker, like Texas Hold'em, Omaha, and Caribbean Stud. So, let's cut to the chase and check all the poker hands in order.

    Poker Hands Chart

    Royal Flush (A K Q J 10)

The absolute king in Poker, the Royal Flush is the strongest hand you can get. It is a straight flush, where your cards are A-K-Q-J-10, and they all have the same suit.

    Straight Flush (6❤️,7❤️, 8❤️,9❤️,K❤️)

The second strongest hand it consists of any five consecutive cards that have the same suit. In our example it's 6, 7, 8, 9, and K all in hearts.

    Four-of-a-Kind (8♠️, 8♣️, 8♦️, 8♠️, J♦️)

That combination is made of four cards of the same value, regardless of the suit. The fifth card could be of any value.

    Full House (K♠️, K❤️, K♣️, A♦️, A❤️)

A full house is a hand of three of a kind and two cards of a different value. In our example, the hand is called "Kings full of Aces".

    Flush (A♠️, 5♠️, 3♠️, 9♠️, J♠️)

A flush is a combo of five cards of the same suit but not in consecutive order. So, it could be A, 5, 3, 9, and J in Spades.

    Straight (A❤️, 2♠️, 3♦️, 4❤️, 5♣️)

Five cards in consecutive order but not of the same suit will make a Straight.

    Three-of-a-Kind (5♣️, 5♦️, 5❤️, Q♠️, 3♦️)

Three cards of the same value (regardless of suit) and two cards of different value will result in a Three-of-a-Kind.

    Two-Pair (8❤️, 8♠️, A♦️, A♣️, 4❤️)

Two cards of the same value, two more cards of the same value, and another card result in a Two-Pair.

    One-Pair (A♠️, A♦️, 5♣️, 2❤️, 6♠️)

This combo is made of two cards of the same value and three extra cards.

    High Card (A❤️, 4♠️, Q♣️, 6❤️, 10♦️)

Any hand that does not fall in the above categories and includes no combination, can be ranked as a High Card.

How can you get winning hands in Poker

Many players believe that poker is more than just gambling, as it involves a lot of strategy. That is true, and the best thing you can do is practise and study some of the books on that topic. Still, as a card game, Poker involves luck, and each hand has certain odds.

A Royal Flush has odds of 0.000154%, while a Straight Flush has odds of 0.00139%. On the other hand, a One-Pair has odds of 42.2569% and a High card has odds of 50.1177%. As you can see, the stronger the hand, the more unlikely it is to get it, like in any other casino game. However, with some proper strategy and thinking, you can score some significant wins.
